Action Now was born from a simple observation: corporate media often fails to report on current or future protests, making it difficult for people to find out about demonstrations happening in their communities. Even when hundreds of thousands of people take to the streets, these events are frequently absent from front pages and news sites, with only buried search results revealing an article or two.

When protests do receive coverage, the focus is often on controversies like arrests rather than addressing the core concerns of protesters. Participant estimates vary dramatically between police, broadcasters, and organizers, creating confusion about the true scale of public sentiment.

Action Now is designed to give protesters a voice and help coordinate peaceful demonstrations while providing greater visibility of participation numbers. While we won't capture everyone, if a similar fraction of people report their participation, we can potentially extrapolate from other estimates to better understand the true scope of public demonstrations.

This is very much an experiment. User engagement will determine whether this platform takes off or becomes another portfolio project.
